Objectives and activities

Develop the Management Plan for the Natura 2000 Site Oituz-Ojdula to maintain the long-term conservation status of species and habitats of community interest.

Specific Objectives of the Project:

  1. Evaluate the natural capital and the current conservation status for the development of the Management Plan for the Natura 2000 Site Oituz-Ojdula.
  2. Improve the level of information and awareness among locals and interested stakeholders, develop ecological education for students in the surrounding areas of the site.
  3. Enhance the institutional capacity of the Private Forest District Brețcu as the custodian of the protected area.

Activities Planned to Achieve Objectives:

A.1. Development of Groundwork Studies and the Management Plan for the Oituz-Ojdula Site:

  • A.1.1. Assessment of the abiotic environment of the site and land use.
  • A.1.2. Inventory of forest habitats.
  • A.1.3. Inventory of large carnivore populations.
  • A.1.4. Inventory of bat populations.
  • A.1.5. Inventory of amphibian populations.
  • A.1.6. Assessment of socio-economic aspects.
  • A.1.7. Evaluation of study results and development of the Management Plan.

A.2. Improvement of Information and Awareness Among Locals and Stakeholders:

  • A.2.1. Development of ecological education in schools around the site.
  • A.2.2. Field ecological education activities in the Natura 2000 Oituz-Ojdula site.
  • A.2.3. Production of a documentary film about the Oituz-Ojdula site.
  • A.2.4. Organization of an information campaign on project results and experiences gained.
  • A.2.5. Publicity and information about the project.

A.3. Training and Capacity Building Activities for the Custodianship:

  • A.3.1. Participation in training courses for Custodianship staff.
  • A.3.2. Acquisition of equipment and software for Custodianship and training for their use.
